A group of third-grade students watched chicken eggs hatch in their classroom. For 21 days, they observed the eggs as the chicks grew inside. The project helped them learn about how animals develop before birth. On hatching day, students saw the chicks break out of their shells using a small “egg tooth,” which disappears soon after. The chicks were covered in soft down feathers that keep them warm. Students got to see what they looked like and how they acted right after hatching. The experience was exciting and helped turn a science lesson into something the students will remember.

Last Saturday, several students from the W-G Elementary were recognized for their hard work and improvements in reading at the Grand Lake Literature Festival held at TriStar in Celina. Great job and congratulations!

Mr. Crites' 5th graders have been playing original blues songs. 5th grade has studied the history of blues and how pop music developed from the style. Students wrote the lyrics and played the 12 bar blues on ukulele, which they are studying in general music class too!
