Mr. Crites's class learned a new song called the Elephant Song. The elephant goes out to play on a spider web, has lots of fun and invites another elephant to join in. So we made the web bigger by adding more elephants (students) to the web.

WGHS presents Murder at Aunt Agatha's, a funny murder mystery, October 29th & 30th @6:00pm. Dessert bar and coffee/hot chocolate with drinks from Coffe Amor followed by the show. $15 each or a table of 8 for $100. Contact Cindy Downey or Betsy Seipel to purchase tickets.

The WG third grade recently took a field trip to Marmon Valley which is located close to Zanesfield, Ohio. They did a hands-on pioneer education program called “Ohio Homesteading.” Students learned about the daily life of Ohio pioneers in the early 1800s by doing activities and listening to presentations. Students enjoyed listening to a presenter describe the various tools used to clear the forests, build cabins and put up fences. The students were able to cut and drill by hand a candle holder made out of wood. Students then learned about how cabins were lit at night and that candle making was a big chore on the farm. Students were able to make their own candle by dipping the wicks into wax. The final activity was pioneer cooking where the students were able to grind corn and make johnny cakes(corn bread) in a cast iron skillet over a fire. Following their lunches, the students were able to play in a hay maze, feed and pet some farm animals, and play Gaga ball.
