August 13, 2019

We are excited and looking forward to our students return on Thursday, August 15, 2019. Once again a new beginning, an opportunity for our students to learn, grow, and excel in many areas.

Please help us welcome three new people to W-G this year: Lauren Roberts, Elementary Counselor, Betsy Seipel, elementary intervention teacher, and Lisa Truex, grades 4-5 math. Also, Nathan Swaney, is moving from the elementary to Athletic Director.

The W-G Board of Education is committed to help every child reach their potential. We want to give every student the opportunity to become proficient in academics, current technology, and to develop creativity and to have a dream beyond school.

Parents please do not hesitate to contact our teachers to seek detailed information so you can help your children work on targeted areas of growth.

Also please encourage your child to participate in one or more of our extracurricular activities, a sport, art show, theatre, science project, other. Have them try something new, to be part of a team, a project, something special that will help them identify interests and build confidence.

We also extend a sincere thank you to all of our boosters and volunteers; we appreciate all you do.

The Board of Education recently approved the following major emphasis for the coming school year:

Major Emphasis for the 2019-20 School Year

Whereas the Board of Education is committed to broad-based opportunities and high quality educational experiences for the children attending the W-G School District; the Board of Education sets the following goals for the 2019-20 school year:

  • Faculty and staff will increase student academic achievement across all core subjects in alignment with state academic standards; with a focus on reading and writing; as measured by content mastery on district approved formative and summative assessments.
  • Faculty and staff will design and implement a career exploration and development program to assure that each student is successful after high school.
  • Faculty and staff will help all students foster a growth mindset and strong social-emotional skills in order to help them take ownership of their academic success.
  • Maintain the fiscal stability of the district and ensure decision making is based on quality, cost effectiveness, and return-on-investment.

This is your school district. Please feel free to contact me at any time with any concern, issue, or idea. Feel free to stop by school to say hello and share your thoughts with me. Or call me at 419-568-9104 or e-mail me at pfisterc@wgschools.org. Thank you. Chris Pfister
