Friday, May 12, 2017---Last Day of Practice!

Wow! Thank you for going beyond our expectations perfomance wise yesterday! We are so proud of you!

Today is our last practice! 

Warm-up---1 lap, walk/skip/jog/agility x2 laps, 1 lap, fence drill

Today's theme is "fresh legs and arms" Today is NOT about pushing our bodies, but about running through the things we have already worked on to be fresh and powerful for tomorrow morning!

Hand-offs, block starts, hurdle drills, distance 10 minute run on the hills, pole vault practice, throws a few reps at each (no more than 5 please)

Cool down- X or 400, stretch

Get a good dinner tonight and get to bed early! If we come out and perform tomorrow, like we did yesterday we will put up a fight! We believe in you and KNOW that you can improve even more!

Field events begin at 10:00 and running events at 10:30

Thursday, May 11, 2017 League Day 1!

Please be at the track at 4:15 today for warm-up. I expect everyone to be there! If you are not in an event today I will have assignments for you. When you are not working or participating you are expected to be cheering on your teammates! Every event counts!

Pole vault, 100 hurdles, relays, distance races, and throws will be on Saturday!

Field Events begin at 5:00 tonight and running event prelims begin at 6:00!

For the league meet we will follow the High School order of events!

See you at 4:15! Go Tigers!!

Wednesday, May 10, 2017 Tomorrow we represent WGT&F ath the NWCC meet!

Practice will be over before 4:30 today and Friday. Below is the league line-up for this weekend. At this time there will be prelims on Thursday for all individaul running events 400 meters and under except the girls 100 hurdles. All relays and distance races will be run on Saturday. All throws will be on Saturday.

Today: Warm-up---1 lap, walk/skip/jog/agility x2 laps, 1 lap, little hurdles/ladder

Hand offs at the correct exchange zones, in lanes, workout, run throughs at events (3 jumps max) The point of events today is to make sure our steps are correct!

Throwers: 4x 100m accelerations... throws 

Sprinters: jog the curves, sprint the straight aways x2 laps

Distance: 10 minute run

Cool down: x on the grass or 400m, stretch

Eat a good dinner tonight and come ready to compete tomorrow!

Cool Down, 4 laps around the loop, stretch

Be at the school at 7:20 tomorrow morning, bring items for the rain: umbrella, garbage bags, ziplocs, extra socks! Have some fun tomorrow, it is an exciting meet!

Workout: follow the leader 4 groups on school grounds--- throwers, distance, sprints, mid

Practices

  • All athletes are expected to participate in practice daily. If your child is sick they are to message a coach on remind and bring a note from a parent the following practice. Athletes who miss in excess will not be permitted to participate in upcoming track meets.

Meets:

  • A schedule of the track meets can be found on the school website, track page. If an athlete knows they are unable to participate in a meet they need to notify a coach at least one week in advance for entry reasons.
  • Athletes are expected to stay for the entire track meet and ride the bus to and from the location. If an athlete is unable to stay a signed form needs to be approved through Mr. Purcell in the high school office in advance.
  • We do not provide food before each meet. Your child should pack healthy “lunch” type items for after school.

Uniforms:

  • All athletes were given a gold Jersey top to wear this season. Everyone will need a plain ROYAL blue pair of athletic shorts or spandex with nothing more than a small logo. There can be no design, colored stitching, trim, or writing on these bottoms.
  • Good low top running shoes are desired. Spikes may be worn at meets, but are NOT required, if your child chooses to wear spikes please make sure they are 1/8th inch pyramid spikes. Some spikes may be available for borrowing through older athletes, or Mr. Epperly.
  • Cold weather: Under armour type garments may be worn. Boys wear white on the top and on the bottom. Girls wear ROYAL blue on the top and on the bottom.

With a variety of locations, and Ohio weather it is important that every athlete is prepared to participate to the best of their ability, no matter the circumstances! JH Track does NOT have a tent

What to pack in your track bag:

  • Uniform-Gold Jersey, Plain blue bottoms
  • Running Shoes
  • Hats/Gloves/Headbands
  • Sweats
  • Under Armour (if you so wish)
  • Extra Socks
  • Rain gear
  • 1 ziplock bag for cell phones and electronics
  • large garbage bags (for putting your bag in when it rains)
  • Umbrella
  • Water bottle
  • Snacks/Money for concessions
